i think the url signs can be easily changed because the script is open source code. i tried to ask a question and I don't see a problem.
I'm also in doubt to buy the script and than modified it or continue to develop my own (50% finished).
Now they selling the script for USD20-30 and I think it's worth it even if it have a couple of bugs.
I tried a couple of another script but they all overpriced. Do you have a couple of links? Did you tried http://bbpress.org, with couple of plugins it can be easily transformed into q&a.
