What are the relaxers for African American hair that do not have any kind of Hydroxide?

I have wave nouvea perm on my hair and if i use a perm with Hydroxide in it My hair will completely fall off. My hair hasn't really taken the perm even though I've had been perming it for about 2 yrs. But i would perm my hair about every other 4 mnths.
