My hair refuses to hold hair dye. What are some ways and/or products that will hold?

So, I have moderately thin brown hair and I've been been desperately trying to dye my hair black but every time I do it whether it's permanent or temporary hair dye it always washes out completely two to four days later. Please, what is a hair dye that is strong? What's a product that will lock it in? Please, this is so distressing.
