Good music for video about kids from Mexico crossing the border into the US to be with their parents?

For a school project, we're making videos summarizing the book we read, La Linea, about two kids from Mexico who go on a journey across the border, facing many dangers on the way. What music would be good to use for this video? We're already planning on using the song California by Phantom Planet, but any other ideas?
