Can a civil marriage from Australia between and Indian and an Australian be registered in India?

I am an Indian girl in Australia, I would like to marry an Australia. Since we both live in Australia, it would be difficult for us to come to India for a civil marriage under the special marriage act since that requires one of us to have lived in India for at least 30 days. I would like us to have our marriage registered in India and recognized for all legal purposes.
